Andrea Harris
Andrea Harris, Chief Executive Officer, has over 35 years of experience working in the Australian education sector. This has included teaching and research within the university environment, as well as teaching and high-level management within the vocational education sector. More recently Andrea has worked on a broad range of educational projects in her capacity as an independent consultant. Andrea together with Marilyn Sorbello owns and manages the training organisation Australian Qualifications Institute. Australian Qualifications Institute has been developed specifically to provide online based training at an affordable price to students from around the world. Andrea’s academic achievements, her knowledge and applied skills in management, combined with her extensive knowledge of the education sector is key to her success in educational consultancy and now as CEO of the Australian Qualifications Institute. Past experience includes roles as Institute Director and Director of Education and Training in large educational institutions with operating budgets of over $80m and staffing of over 800. Andrea has also held a range of senior Directing roles including Director of the Office of TAFE Queensland and currently Director of the Australian Orienteering Board. Andrea now leads the Australian Qualifications Institute with the purpose of providing affordable training to International and Australian students, in the specialist areas of Business leadership and management and human resource management.
Marilyn Sorbello
Marilyn is a founding Director of the Australian Qualifications Institute and has over 20 years of experience in the area of quality and compliance in the Vocational Education and Training sector. This includes many years as a TAFE Institute Quality Manager and as a Faculty Administrator, ensuring the delivery of quality education and compliance to Australian Government education standards. Marilyn also has many years of experience in the auditing of quality systems from both sides of the auditing table namely as an internal auditor and in successfully preparing large and small organisational units for external audit. Marilyn has considerable experience and skills in providing advice to Company Directors on corporate governance issues and compliance with corporate legislation. She has also acted as Company Secretary for a number of private companies and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
